Its early in the 20th century and the industrial age is changing the face of the American culture. Everywhere but Northeast New Mexico and Southwest Colorado where the old west is holding out. The grandchildren of the feared and respected last of the mountain men--Coker Owen Ford--are growing up on a farm near Tucumcari, New Mexico. They are trying to live in the shadow of their grandfather, yet become their own person. The farm is quiet, but their lives are becoming dangerous as the old west--with gunfights in the street still happening--continues to strike out at those that are not ready. Pete and Misty will need to quickly grow up and end their childhoods.
